PostHeaderIcon Secrets to an Awesome Anchor Text Strategy

Hopefully, you should know by now that anchored backlinks are an essential element for attaining good search engine rankings. However, there are so many misconceptions about what types of strategies you should do to get to the front page.

It should come as no surprise that people think that there are so many different opinions on what it takes to rank on Google. Google keeps its secrets close to heart. Search engine experts have to use their own discretion as to what the best practices are for improving search engine rankings with anchored backlinks.

I have completed an empirical study that analyzed 10 different websites ranking on the front page of Google. I checked the backlinks to those sites and looked for different anchor text patterns. I checked key patterns to answer important questions such as:

  1. Do sites get penalized for using keywords too frequently in their anchor text?
  2. Do sites rank better if they use a variety of different anchor text patterns?
  3. Can synonyms in your backlinks help with your rankings?
  4. Does using a high keyword density help you with your keyword rankings?
We made a number of interesting observations, which are all highlighted in our Anchor Text Strategy Report. However, I’d like to at least give you a quick freebie.
One of the biggest theories in SEO is that you must constantly change up your anchor text every time you build a backlink. Our study found that that didn’t happen to be the case. We analyzed close to 1,000 backlinks in many sites and found many of them only used 12 different anchor text variations. In fact, one of the sites we analyzed used the same exact anchor text in every single link! And it still ranked on the front page.

If you are serious about ranking well on SEO, you should make sure that you do things right. Would you take the chance of optimizing your site improperly considering how great it is to get at the top of Google for a specific keyword?

If you are seriously interested in getting to the top of Google, I suggest you give our report a review. I have always felt it makes much more sense to study actual data on what works as opposed to listening to the wisdom from the street. Opinions and rumors are usually wrong. Data never is.
